What does gapps mean?

Gapps (Google apps) is a collection of all google apps and services that you would typically see in any stock android rom (like nexus rom).

Well, that was the over simplification of this awesome project which enables you to select group of Google apps from all google apps. Although it’s not possible to manually select deselect any apps from the list but you get variations of Gapps packages of minimal google apps to complete set.

When do we need a Gapps package?

Most of the Custom ROMs, don’t have google apps preinstalled, so that they could reduce the ROMs size and this also allows user to install user what they really need. And ultimately this cuts down the bloatware apps installed on your phone.
